Nitrate Screening in Deer Park - Tuesday June 9th

Private well owners are encouraged to test annually, as nitrate levels can change over time and cannot be detected by taste, smell, or appearance. To help make testing easy, St. Croix County is offering a free nitrate screening clinic next week:

Tuesday, June 9 | 1:00 – 5:00 PM

Deer Park Library

112 Front Street West, Deer Park, WI

Nitrates are the most common groundwater contaminant in St. Croix County, making routine testing an important part of protecting your household's drinking water. Screening takes just a few minutes, and no appointment is necessary. While nitrate screening is not a certified laboratory test, it provides a reliable indication of where your nitrate concentration falls and can help determine whether follow-up laboratory testing may be warranted.

Do you have a water treatment system? This is also a great opportunity to verify that it is working properly. We encourage participants to bring both a pre-treatment and post-treatment sample to evaluate treatment effectiveness.

Only one additional nitrate clinic is currently scheduled for 2026:

Thursday, September 10 | 1:00 – 5:00 PM
St. Croix County Services Center
1752 Dorset Ln, New Richmond, WI
