Good evening. The winter storm is delivering the predicted punch. Highways across the county are snow covered, and travel conditions are difficult.
The St. Croix County Highway Department has operators on all state highways, county highways, and select high-traffic town roads. We will continue operations on all 24-hour service highways (Interstate and STH 35/64) until conditions improve. Between approximately 10:00 PM and 12:00 AM, operators will be pulled from two-lane state and county highways. Crews will return to all county-maintained highways between 2:00 AM and 3:00 AM.
The type of snow is making plowing difficult, and it will take a significant amount of time to clear highways across the county. Please anticipate difficult and variable driving conditions. If you do not need to travel, please stay home.
Highway conditions are not expected to significantly improve from Monday into Tuesday. Predicted winds and sustained blowing and drifting snow will continue to cause issues throughout the county and may affect all highways. Again, if you do not need to travel, please stay home. If travel is necessary, be prepared and allow extra time. This is one of those storms.
Please be safe, give our operators room to plow, and thank you to all our crews working through extremely difficult conditions to keep travel possible.
